PCC 2016 Emblem Design

Background

Dr Derek Willis, Chair of the 11th Palliative Care Congress, is keen for Congress to involve and engage with the local community in Glasgow whenever possible.

One way Congress has achieved this is by working with a Glasgow based arts charity to design an emblem for the 2016 conference.

“Creative Pathways” is a project run by the national community arts charity “Impact Arts”. Nine of their budding young artists submitted a total of 19 different designs for consideration. The Organising Committee reviewed these, chose their overall favourite and then worked further with the winning artist – Kerry Lang – and Lead Tutor, Graeme Douglas – to refine and finalise the ‘chalk hands’ image you now see in the PCC website banner. This image came from Kerry’s original design entitled “Symmetry”.

Congress would like to thank Impact Arts, Creative Pathways, all the submitting artists and Graeme Douglas for their time and help with this project.

And, of course, our congratulations to the winner - Kerry Lang.
