Call for Symposia
Introduction
Join us in creating the next exciting, innovative and future thinking Congress programme by submitting your idea for a parallel symposium session at PCC in Salford from 11-12 March 2027. We invite submissions from individuals, groups, or organisations to deliver a symposium which has relevance to the 2027 theme – Science and Spirit: Living and Dying in Modern Times.
What is a Symposium?
Symposium submissions differ from individual abstract submissions, as they are designed as collaborative sessions rather than single presentations. Symposia will run alongside the main Congress content as 60-minute parallel sessions and can be of any format suitable to the multidisciplinary audience – e.g., presentation, interactive workshop, panel discussion, debate etc. We particularly welcome submissions with innovative or creative formats and those from groups working across different centres. Successful applicants will be expected to register as delegates and settle their own costs to attend.
An abstract call for oral and poster presentations will follow later. Please do not submit an abstract to this call for symposia, unless you are able to explain how it would translate to a symposium format.

Review Process
Submissions to this call will be reviewed by the PCC 2027 Organising Committee and selected based on their relevance to the Congress theme and interest to our delegate audience. You will be notified of the outcome of your submission by 11 September 2026. We will then ask for confirmation of your agreement to present by 18 September 2026. This will enable us to timetable the session within the main Congress programme.
Bursary Funding
Unfortunately, due to a limited budget, the PCC will be unable to routinely cover expenses for this open symposium call. However, we are committed to ensuring the PCC is open to those with limited funding support. Therefore, a limited amount of dedicated bursary support will be available for this call. Please specify in your application if you will be seeking bursary support.
